Single parents dating
SINGLE parents have things doubly hard sometimes – solely being responsible for their children’s welfare, while at the same time trying to remain functionally social by staying on the dating scene.
We asked several, do you find that being a single parent makes dating harder?
Tamoy, 36:
Yes, it is harder not just with finding the time to date, but also when some men find out you have kids the first thing they ask is where is the father. Most men aren’t looking to play stepfather.
Elaine, 38:
I have three children and it is hard. Some men don’t have the tolerance to handle last minute cancellations, but as a parent of three sometimes things happen.
Ondre, 29:
I’m a father of a little girl and I do get dates because most women find it to be a breath of fresh air to find a father raising his daughter on his own. But at the same time I’m not rushing to bring a woman into my life. Most women can’t seem to understand that as they think as a single dad I’m doing auditions for stepmom.
Rose, 30:
It can be difficult at times but like most single parents, my child comes first and my dating life falls somewhere behind going back to school and meeting new people. Dating isn’t really on my to-do list.
Georgia, 26:
I have two kids and I started off as a teen mom so I have truly had no time to be going out for the fun of it. By the time I’m done working, I get home and have to cook, help the kids with their homework, and I’m too exhausted. Plus I also work on Saturdays, so the one day I get off, the last thing I want to do is go out on a date.
