Vows: The Last Time I’ll Fall In Love
Dionne Forrester, television editor at CVM Television, wed her knight in shining armour Damion Malcolm – web designer/graphic artist at Blitz Web Designs, at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge in Kingston on November 29, 2015. Vows was on location to share in the couple’s most memorable moment to date.

How they met… (according to Dionne)
It all started in 2010 when a co-worker of mine told me about a singing group that Damion was a part of called ‘God’s Appeal’. I invited the group to participate in an Adventist Youth (AY) programme at my church one Saturday. I realised that afternoon that some familiar faces were amongst the group members, faces I remembered from my college days at Northern Caribbean University (NCU). I also noticed Damion from a distance (I liked his face). Indeed, I couldn’t get his handsome face out my mind. I was reluctant to make my feelings known because I had a hunch he already had a girlfriend. Little did I know that he’d been asking around for my number. Two years later in February 2012, I received a friend request on Facebook. Within a week, we’d exchanged numbers and started talking via text messages, phone calls, and Facebook messages. He confessed his feelings for me but shared his inability to commit due to complications from a previous relationship. This caused a disconnect between us for a few months until June when I was invited to Music Day at Trench Town SDA. Damion was there… it was futile feigning indifference — sparks went flying. I decided to give him another chance.

Our second-year anniversary was approaching and we wanted to do something a little different to celebrate the milestone. A getaway to Sunset Jamaica Grande, Ocho Rios, for a day was planned with dinner for two bringing our day of total relaxation to a perfect close. Our table had the most romantic view of the ocean with the boats and the sunset. Conversation soon turned to our relationship and how much we’d enjoyed the last two years, and what we’d do differently for our many milestones to come; little did I know that it would include marriage!
Damion started talking about marriage and the possibilities thereof; I thought it was our usual musings. The next thing I knew, he had a ring in his hand. To be honest, I didn’t hear a thing after that because I was caught completely off guard. Tears fell, I was speechless, I started laughing — all the emotions at once. He slipped the ring on my finger, and I somehow managed to say ‘yes’ — albeit wondering at the same time if this was real — Damion and I were getting married!
The ceremony…
The ceremony…
The spring in November-themed ceremony took place on the terrace at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge, witnessed by an intimate gathering of family and friends. Everything 4 Weddings & Memories Catering styled the ceremony and reception with a whimsy of romance — hundreds of pink, blush and cream flora that covered the pillared arch where Dianne and Damion said their ‘I dos’. Damion was dapper in a black tux designed by Tie Hard. The bridesmaids wore fuchsia sleeveless dresses by local seamstress Pauline Perry, while maid of honour Jashemia Black’s dress was in sky blue. The groomsmen styled in grey suits with fuchsia ties while best man Elton Austin’s sky blue tie complemented the dress of the maid of honour.
The bride made her entrance in a strapless Mori Lee gown with intricate beading along the bodice that trailed into a delicate organza mermaid skirt from Petals and Promises. Her ‘something new’ was a diamond-encrusted hairclip from Damion, which held her hair in place. Her bouquet was of cream roses with sprigs of baby’s breath. The wedding was officiated by Pastor Meric Walker.

The theme followed throughout the reception, held in the Gold Room at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge. The bridal party performed a choreographed dance number to Marc Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars, and Just The Way You Are by the latter. Dinner was served by the Everything 4 Weddings & Memories Catering team. Immediately following dinner, mothers of the bride and groom, Angella Graham and Vivette Malcolm, unveiled the three-tiered fruitcake created by Everything 4 Weddings & Memories Catering. Formalities over, including several heartfelt toasts to the newly-weds and their family, Damion and Dionne shared their first dance as husband and wife to Eric Benet’s The Last Time. They were later joined by guests on the dance floor in the Cha Cha Slide by Mr C, The Slide Man. Damion and Dionne spent their honeymoon at the Royal Decameron in Runaway Bay.
