Vows – Wedding Spectacular 2016 – Part 2
We started the conversation about the recently held Scotiabank Wedding Spectacular 2016, which took place on Sunday, February 21 at the Hope Botanical Gardens in St Andrew, merely scratching the surface on the products and services offered by our local vendors.
In case you missed it, the Wedding Spectacular is a one-stop bridal showcase which highlights the products and services offered by our local vendors — from bridal hair and make-up, wedding dresses or tuxedos, to décor and rental services, cakes, florists, jewellery, catering and everything in-between. Now in its fifth staging, the ‘all things bridal’ exhibition is also well recognised as the island’s largest annual one-day bridal showcase. Over 70 exhibitors displayed their wares to introduce to, and educate some 2,000 patrons — including approximately 600 brides-to-be.
Patrons moved from booth to booth enjoying samples of bite-size Sugah Pie Custom Cakes and Pastries fruit cakes — in addition to several other cake designs and flavours from the Sugabuzz Desserts, Bendeani’s Events, Katherine ‘Chef Kathy’ Pinnock, and As You Wish Events, offering more than just event décor and design services — or sipping varietals from the Harbour Wines and Spirits collection.
The Petals & Promises wedding design and boutique team exhibited their wedding package criteria by way of hair and make-up demos, bridal gown and tuxedo displays, and décor concepts, including fancy ceremony and reception accoutrements, all in one booth.
Halfway through the spectacular, the scent of barbecued otaheite apple pasta permeated the air. It was “something different” created by Eskay Catering chef/proprietor Stephen Hamilton. Patrons later had the opportunity to win one of several prizes from title sponsors Scotiabank, and other sponsors including Fontana Pharmacy, Fly Jamaica, American Jewellers, Hi-Lo, Jamaica Pegasus and Couples Resorts. Vows recommends Wedding Spectacular 2017 as the one-stop destination for all things bridal.
