The date was set, and the stages lit for the return of the Festival Fashions designer showcase tailored by Festival Fashion Committee Chairman Weston Haughton and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre last Monday.
Ripping the runway were the 2015 Miss Universe Jamaica finalists and a few male and child models. The fashion and music spectacular regaled patrons for the Emancipendence celebrations with bandana designs and clear-cut inspirations of black, green and gold. After all, we’re celebrating Jamaica.
Midway through the catwalk takeover, reggae group One Third burst on the stage to perform a slew of hits backed by the Band In2 Nation, which provided a medley of local rhythms and traditional festival music from start to finish.
Taking over the catwalk were A Tropical Kaleidoscope from Courtney Washington; The Land of My Birth from the House of Neahlis; regal opulence by Tanya Cameron and her son Dominic Sutherland from Shades of Africa; knitwear heaven with Irie Threads from Minka; chic lines and effortless cuts from Mutamba, bandanarama from Natoya Doulatt; body-carving lines from Mushroom; bandana and denim menswear by Mark Anthony; and threads for juniors by Juliet Richards all accessorised by M&M Hat Makers for Cinderella Hats.
AW Fashion takes you there.
