Reclaiming Resort Wear
Fashion cognoscenti have long looked to the Caribbean for inspiration where ateliers create designs that would not be completely out of sync with what’s hitting the runways in Paris or Milan for the Resort 2016 collections. At the recently-wrapped Caribbean Fashion Week, our designers sent bold ethnic prints and soft airy fabric along with a mash-up of animal and Aztec prints, chic chiffon threads and colourful designs (some of which were even hand-painted) down the runways. From James Black’s precise cuts and Yvonne Jewnell’s printastic threads to flora/botanicals from Vain Glory, and structured yet feminine pieces from Yesa!, AW Fashion caught the sashays down the runway.
