What’s love got to do with it?
The 1984 Tina Turner single What’s Love Got To Do With It? was a major hit for many reasons — including that women enter relationships many times for reasons other than love. Bridget Thompson-Dunkley, romance author, shares five reasons why a woman would be with a man other than for love.
1. For money
Money, money, money, money! For some women there is just something about having a stack of paper to spend or a new piece of plastic to swipe. It is often said that love doesn’t pay the bills and the modern-day gold digger knows this all too well. For her it’s nothing personal, it’s just business. Finding a deep-pocketed man to ‘love’ is just business!
2. To move up the social ladder
You might be the CEO of a company or the alpha male in the group and she is a woman who is attracted to men in power. It’s not because she loves you or will ever love you, but she loves what you could and will do for her. For her, you could open so many doors for her, doors which she otherwise would never be able to go through on her own.
3. Because she needs a baby daddy
Many women, especially career-driven ones, have taken the stance that it’s either now or never! And so for the sake of her future children she is willing to put love on hold in search of her future baby daddy! Who knows, somewhere down the road she may end up meeting the love of her life. Until then, tick, tick.
4. Companionship
A woman does get lonely sometimes and may need a bit of masculine energy in her space just so she doesn’t get bored. For her, this love is just platonic and as such she doesn’t get too emotionally involved as she doesn’t want the relationship to sap her energy. So picture her flipping through her little black book trying to reconnect with those men from her past, men who she can potentially spend some time with, just to pass time.
5. To meet her sexual needs
She knows that you are not the love of her life, but you’re someone she can call when she needs her business to be fixed, nothing more, nothing less.
