Signs he wants to spend the rest of his life with you
JUDGING your man’s thoughts can be very difficult, and when you’re at a serious point in your relationship, assessing his level of commitment can be equally challenging.
Chances are you may misread his signals, overthink his actions or even look past his gestures and not see what he really means.
But there are usually clear-cut signs that a man wants to be with you, and signs he’s seeking the fastest way out.
Below relationship counsellor Wayne Powell shares a few.
He does
1. He values his vows
Powell said once a man takes his marriage vows seriously and adheres to the expressed sentiments, it’s a sign he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. “For better and for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, love and cherish, remain faithful, forsaking all others, are all signs,” he said.
2. He loves you unconditionally
“If he loves you unconditionally, despite your unfavourable shortcomings, then that’s a sign,” Powell said.
3. He respects you
Powell said once your partner treats you with utmost respect and defends your character and integrity at all times, then he is showing you he wants to stay.
4. He values your commitment
The relationship counsellor said one clear sign is if he has high regard for your friendship or companionship and is comfortable to be himself around you.
5. He cherishes your trust
According to Powell, another sign is if he has high regard for your confidentiality and freely shares intimate details of his life with you
6. He introduces you to his family
“If he wants you to meet and be integrated in his family and he’S doing the same in yours, then he’s trying to tell you something,” Powell said.
He doesn’t
1.You’re the subject of disrespect
Powell said if he shows little or no regard for your feelings and continuously disrespects you, then his existence in your life is short-term.
2. He’s not empathetic
“If there is no show of affection and he uses every opportunity to put you down or start an argument, he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life with you,” Powell said.
3. He’s emotionally absent
Powell said the fact that he may be physically present but emotionally absent from the relationship is a sign that he doesn’t want to stay.
4. He’s abusive
The relationship counsellor said if he is physically abusive and is not remorseful, then the relationship will be short-lived.
5. He cheats
One sign he’s not serious, according to Powell, is infidelity, and if he deliberately and openly engages in extramarital affairs, then the relationship won’t last.
6. You’re the enemy
“If he treats you like a foe rather than like a friend then he does not want to spend the rest of his life with you,” Powell said.
