Because she’s worth it
AW reporter Curt Cawley takes five with the first L’Oréal Regional Ambassador for L’Oréal Paris for the Caribbean, Sara Lawrence.
All Woman (AW):
What do you love most about your hair?
Sara Lawrence (SL): That it is so forgiving. The amount of things I have done to it in my lifetime, my hair karma should have rendered me bald ages ago! Also, I love the fact that it has the capability to hold a style — such as curls and more — for a few days longer than most.
AW: What about your hair annoys you the most?
SL: That once I go to the gym — and I do mean once — it’s a wrap! After that, it has to be clipped up for the remainder of the week.
AW: Is there a hairstyle or hair trend you’ve always wanted to try but were too scared to?
SL: Ombré.
AW: What’s your dream hairstyle?
SL: I don’t think I’ve ever had a dream hairstyle; I love how my hair is done now. However, I do have an appreciation for having my hair clipped to the side with tousled curls or waves, and an addition of a braid to that look would be the icing on the cake.
AW: Who is your hair icon or inspiration?
SL: Though, I don’t have a hair icon per se, I must add that I do love and appreciate the versatility I see with a lot of natural hairstyles these days. I always admire them!
AW: What are your tricks for a ‘bad’ hair day?
SL: You have to meet your hair halfway on that day. If it’s partially styled and can be worn loose or down, a simple grab set or pin curls before going in the shower can do wonders. If it looks anything like mine, after going to the gym the night before, please do not attempt to wear it loose or down. Instead, opt for a neat bun or pony tail with a touch of added moisture.
AW: What has been your most memorable hair boo-boo?
SL: Oh my, let me tell you! In college, I was obsessed with hair colour, but in order to attain the brightest highlights from the temporary rinse, I would have to bleach my strands ’til they were almost white. Needless to say, the rest — as well as my hair — was history.
AW: What is your haircare regimen?
SL: I wash and condition my hair 1-2 times per week, depending on how often I go to the gym. I also add moisture as needed and apply a deep conditioning treatment to my tresses once a month.
AW: Who does your hair? It’s gorgeous.
SL: The fabulous and wonderful Pauline Facey-Blake. She not only whips my hair into perfection, but she’s also my life coach — a second mother!
AW: If you were stranded on a desert island, what’s the one hair product you would pray you had?
SL: A hair product that was edible!
AW: Of the five L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare systems, which is your favourite?
SL: It would definitely have to be the Total Repair 5 system; it’s amazing! In the past I would have to use many different products to address the several issues I would encounter with my hair — be it split ends, dryness or dullness. Now, thanks to L’Oréal Paris’s wonder products, five problems are transformed into one solution.
