Vows – Happily Ever After
A young girl taunted by the people around whom she was raised, Winsome Hall was always searching for love and longing for true happiness. She grew up in a far from ideal family unit. However, the void in her heart would only be filled the day she met the love of her life — Maxwell Daley. Like the knight in shinning armour for which she had prayed, he had come to bring her happiness.
They met in Spanish Town in 1996, where Winsome resided at the time. Maxwell would frequent the a nearby garage in the area to have been car serviced. As fate would have it, one day while Winsome was at her gate talking with friends and family, Maxwell spotted her and was instantly smitten. What captured his heart?… Her smile he says.
After a year-long tumultous comedy of errors, Maxwell hoped his love notes would soon play in his favour. And they did. In 1997, the couple went on their first date and have been inseparable since.
Maxwell woke up one Sunday morning with the feeling he couldn’t go on another day without asking Winsome to be his bride. So despite not having the ring, he got down on one knee and popped the question, to which she tearfully said yes. They went shopping for the perfect ring thereafter, and officially tied the knot a year later on June 15, 2013.
Maxwell, a member of the Jamaica Defence Force, was weak-kneed at the altar after seeing his wife-to-be walk up the aisle to Savage Garden’s I Knew I Loved You. With every step she made, it became clearer to him that he had made the right decision and their love would last forever.
The ceremony was held at the Webster Memorial United Church. The fuchsia and green décor created a light ‘summery’ atmosphere as officiating pastor Rev Astor Carlye blessed the union and pronounced the two husband and wife.
The groom wore an ivory tailored suit from Kenneth Cole with matching shoes from House of Style. Winsome, a nurse at the Kingston Public Hospital, wore a white, layered David’s Bridal gown with a sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of white roses with apple green and fuchsia ribbons.
The wedding reception was held at the Altamont Court Hotel in Kingston. There were heartfelt toasts and the musical offerings.
The newly-weds shared their first dance to Destiny’s Child’s Brown Eyes, and Maxwell dedicated Tarrus Riley’s She’s Royal to his queen, vowing to spend the rest of his life with her. They spent one night of their three-night honeymoon at the Altamont Court Hotel and the rest at Jewels Resorts in Ocho Rios. Finally getting her happily ever after, Winsome and Maxwell continue their journey of happiness.
