If you had a chance to give him a lie detector test, what would you ask?
LIE detection software is being used increasingly in many fields to determine scientifically whether an accused deceiver is being truthful. Used normally mostly in police work, nowadays popular media — the Maury Show and others — have made it a factor in relationships, using physiological indices like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and breathing rhythm to determine when a partner is fibbing.
Couples lie to each other daily, for whatever reason. While some lies are obvious, others are not so easy to spot, leading many to wish they had the use of lie detection technology to spot their lying mates.
This week we asked: What burning question would you ask your partner if you had the opportunity to give them a lie detector test?
Sherene Bartley, 26, teacher:
I would definitely want to know if my partner loves me enough to be truthful to me no matter the circumstances. There are times when I really doubt my spouse’s version of the truth and I would want to know the real truth. Then again he is so cunning he might still lie and pass the polygraph test.
Jovia Davis 23, store clerk:
Without a doubt I would want to know if Nicholas cheated since we have been together. I really have no intention of sharing mine considering the STDs that are going around and furthermore, he would be like a dumb animal if he decides to cheat because I give him all he wants.
Joseph Morgan 60, musician:
My wife is much younger than I am and whenever we are in the bedroom she closes her eyes and seems to go off to a land of ecstasy. I would love to know if it’s me that is rocking her world or if her mind is on someone else. If she passes, I would be on top of the world because it would show that at 60 I am still the stamina daddy.
Pablo Mcpherson, unemployed, 31:
Would she still love me I became crippled and helpless? I guess her answer would determine if my wife loves me unconditionally or if she is just bluffing and is there in the good times only.
Simone Redwood, 25, student:
There are a lot of burning questions I would want to ask but I am not certain if I could deal with the truth. However, I would really want to know if he genuinely loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with me as he says.
Iris Mills, 73, housewife:
When my daughter was 11 years she complained that my ex-husband fondled her and he denied it claiming that she was a liar and just being rebellious. She was rebellious and I believed him but to date it still haunts me and I would just want to know if she was telling the truth and he was indeed the liar. He is bedridden and very ill now but if he failed, let’s just say I would take him out of his misery.
Crystal Clarke, 24, barmaid:
Of course I would want know if he cheated on me or if he thinks about another woman when we are in bed but the main thing I would want to know is the truth about the amount of money he claims to get for his salary. My spouse is always making up excuses about not getting paid or getting his salary late or even just getting a few days pay because his boss is strapped for cash. That I know is a lie but I really have no proof because only the Almighty alone can see inside of his wallet or get hold of his payslips.
