Cellphone chic
WITHIN the last decade, many people young and old have been found guilty of becoming enraptured by the cell phone revolution( me included!) Long gone are the days of the cumbersome cellphone, as the world has progressed to smaller versions provided by many brands, in an array of funky colours.
Cellphones are no longer just instruments for communication, but also fashion statements, and they say a lot about the owner who will spend big bucks, to make sure they have the best. all woman, with the help of Savvy Mobile Technology located at 28 Southdale Plaza, set out to gain understanding of some of the most exclusive and in-demand phones available for women at the moment.
Nokia 7370
As a part of a special fashion line of Nokia models, called L’Amour, the 7370 is Nokia’s first phone, with a swivel design. Seen in Mary J Bilge’s video Be Without You, it is decorated with golden flowers and a fringe, has a hard leather battery cover and comes with a fabric case, which encompasses well-creased flowers identical to the ones seen on the phone. At $23,300 it is an artistic soul’s companion.
MOTORAZR V3i Dolce & Gabbana
This is the ultimate phone, for the fashion- forward diva. Debuted on the Jamaican scene at CFW 2006, it combines refinement and distinction to the average Razr, with a style and attitude that only D&G could pull off. Liquid gold in the palm of your hand, it comes with a fashionable lanyard, is loaded with D&G ringtones, screen savers and wallpapers. Sells for $40,775 at Savvy Mobile.
LG KG800 Chocolate Strawberry
Beautifully designed, it burst on the scene in 2006 creating a stir like that of the first Motorola Razr. The sliding phone has respectable features and performance and comes in many different flavours (colours). Price $31,455.
Samsung E870
If being flashy is not what you’re about, but reliability is paramount, then this is the phone for you. The simplistic appearance of the exterior is reminiscent of a clamshell while the interior’s large keys has a retro look that is easy to manoeurve. This simplistic phone sells for $23,300.
Nokia 7370
Also known as the lipstick phone, this stunned me the first time I saw it. “Is that a phone?” I asked, as Cindy Lyons, senior sales consultant of Savvy Mobile Technology, nodded yes. Another member of the Nokia L’Amour collection, the 7370 is accentuated with leather, cloth, metal and ceramic finishes and is simply put “a stunner”.
Aimed at the fashion conscious, it will stop people in their tracks. However instead of using a keypad, it works with the use of voice commands and a Navi spinner (like an Ipod). But a big plus for us females is that the screen doubles as a mirror (love it!). Price $34, 950.
LG KG810 Chocolate Flip
Some like sliders, some like flips. For the flip fanatic with a sweet tooth, LG made sure that you would not be left out of the chocolate revolution and created the Chocolate flip. It sells for $26,795.
LG KE850 (Prada phone)
Hot! This unique phone will be on the market very shortly. With a classic minimalist design, the Prada phone is a fashionistas dream – it does not have a keypad but instead a touch screen display, and comes with a chic leather case. My advice, get your orders in early.
