Going down-under… for a fabulous fit
Some might very well argue that your ‘undies’ are even more important than what’s worn over them, and with emphasis this season on wonderfully feminine empire dresses, the décolletage (lift and much support) is suddenly all the rage.
Support, by the way, includes the gluteus maximus, so before you buy another party outfit take a close look at your underwear. Embarrassed? No need to be, just allow us to fill you in on what you absolutely need this festive season. That’s right, Christmas is here and it’s time to throw out last year’s lingerie.
Get your correct fit.
. Measure around the rib cage directly under the bust, holding the tape measure level beneath the shoulder blades.
. Add five inches to the measurement. This is what’s referred to as the bra band size.
. Now measure completely around the chest across the fullest part of the bust, holding the tape measure straight without pulling tight.
Establish the measurement then subtract it from the calculated Bra Band Size measurement. The difference between the two measurements is known as the cup size.
If the difference between the two measurements
is:
0 Your cup size is AA
1 Your cup size is A
2 Your cup size is B
3 Your cup size is C
4 Your cup size is D
5 Your cup size is DD
Bra lingo:
Push-Ups are designed with moulded, slightly angled cups to lift and enhance the cleavage. Look for underwire if you’re a B cup or bigger and a lightly lined cup if you’re an A.
Contour
Wear contour (seamless) bras with flexible underwire for those clingy tops.
Look for. underwire channels that are fully cushioned; they’ll be more comfortable.
Low convertible
A bra that can be worn strapless, halter, crisscross or over one or both shoulders. Look for stretch foam cups, if strapless bra slips, go down a band size or up a cup size.
