Nadz hits the big times
Jamaican rap singer Nadz is currently all the rage of late. Part of Dave Stewart’s camp (she’s signed to Stewart’s UK-based Artiste Network), Nadz’s (Nadirah Seid) single I hate this has been selected as part of the album soundtrack for the movie Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which opened in the US on July 25 starring Angelina Jolie.
The more on this super cool rapper, a graduate of Queen’s High School, is that she now appears on the Caribbean version of the Coca-Cola ‘Real’ campaign. Her voice can be heard on the current jingle, rapping in hip-hop/dancehall crossover style. The jingle will run on the airwaves of a dozen Caribbean countries, including Jamaica.
Coca-Cola Country manager Richard Pandohie, said that his company found Nadz to be a refreshing sound on the musical landscape. He also made mention of her clean lyrics and the fact that Coca-Cola has deliberately targeted females in its drive to reposition this beverage in the region. They have also added a Caribbean feel to the product. Nadz seems the perfect fit.
