Your Talk on Lady C
Dear Editor,
I read your article about “Lady C” in last Monday’s issue and I have to say my heart goes out to her and all the people who end up carrying drugs and get caught or even worse, die. I think the problem starts from our government, if they were providing jobs for these people they would not have to take this route.
It saddens me to think that our country has gotten to this. The government needs to take steps to solve this problem and soon. This is truly an epidemic.
I must commend you for letting our women know about the harsh realities of being a drug mule, I just hope they heed. The government needs to do same.
Yours truly,
Nicola Howard

Comments: Although she chose to do something that was wrong, I understand the desperate situation she was in. I do not condone what she did, but I admire her spunk to talk about it and encourage or warn others not to do it.
Most people who carry drugs to England inside of them are very stupid and far less educated. If it is so, then why don’t the dealers take it themselves. Before you do it, stop and consider why they are asking you to do it. They are cowards and don’t want to get caught themselves.
But what the British government must do, is get from the mules the address of the don, and pass it on to the Jamaican police and let them be charged as well for conspiracy to export, trafficking, and posession.
Then they, the dons, will stop asking the down-trodden young ladies to smuggle drugs.
I wish I could contact the lady whose story I read, Lady C.
Jah bless

Comments: Jamdon, well said. She knew right from wrong and she choose wrong — hopefully she has learnt her lesson and others reading the paper can take heed.

Comments: It is commendable that this woman has admitted making the wrong decision, and is making attempts to warn her fellow country men/women of the dangers of trafficking. With the economy being the way it is, not only in Jamaica but globally, it can be difficult not to succumb to the temptations. Being a woman, and a mother, I can very well understand that she wanted to give her offspring the best life has to offer. But ladies, take notes from Lady C, freedom is sweet. Network with various organisations that can help, whether these organisations are affiliated with the church or businesses, there is a way. And, never forget that with perseverance, confidence you can do well and possess the drive to do well, with God’s help you can move mountains. Lady C wish you the very best and may you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. May God bless and provide for you.
