10 men held after Uzi sub-machine gun seized in New Haven

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ten men were taken into police custody after an Uzi sub-machine gun was seized during a joint security operation in New Haven, St Andrew, on Wednesday.

The cordon-and-search operation, which ran from 5:00 am to 9:00 am, was carried out by members of the St Andrew South Police Division, supported by the Specialized Operations Branch, the Area 4 Fugitive Apprehension Team (AFAT), the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

During searches of several premises in the community, security personnel discovered and seized the firearm with a magazine attached.

The identities of the ten men have not been released as investigations continue.
