KINGSTON, Jamaica—The legal team of Prime Minister Andrew Holness says it has taken note of the decision by the Court of Appeal to dismiss an appeal by Prime Minister Andrew Holness to strike out portions of an affidavit filed by the Integrity Commission, noting that the decision does not adversely impact Holness’ case against the Integrity Commission.

“The legal team for Dr The Most Honourable Andrew Holness takes note of the Court of Appeal decision in the matter of Andrew Holness et al v Craig Beresford et al today. The Appeal primarily concerned Dr Holness’ requests for the Integrity Commission to disclose un-redacted documents that were disclosed by the commission in the claim,” Holness appeal team said in a statement on Friday.

According to Holness’ legal team, the appeal also concerned an application to strike out portions of the affidavit of Executive Director of the Integrity Commission Craig Beresford that referred to declarations filed by Dr Holness prior to 2020 and that were already certified and were not the subject of the claim.

“The decision of the Appeal Court today concerning the aforementioned matter does not adversely affect the cases; the team had already secured the disclosure of a wide cache of documents from the respondents,” the team said.

“The team remains of the view that it was also entitled to the unredacted documents that were the subject of the appeal. Notwithstanding the court’s decision, the team will now look ahead to the resolution of the substantive legal issues which remain before the court and are yet to be determined,” it continued.
