Insurance officer found shot at Mona home
An insurance claims recovery officer was found suffering from a gunshot wound at his home in Mona, St Andrew, on Wednesday morning.
The 48-year-old man was reportedly found by his wife, who works for a government ministry.
Police said the now-injured man was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in September 2025, and has since been experiencing depression and anxiety attacks.
Reports indicated that around 4:30 am, he complained to his wife of stomach pain and left the house to exercise at the University of the West Indies (UWI) campus.
He returned home around 5:30 am and went upstairs to his room. Shortly after, a loud explosion sounding like a gunshot was heard.
His wife immediately checked and found him lying on his side suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. He was covered in blood, and there was a hole in a pillow on top of him.
Police said neighbours assisted the injured man to hospital, where he is currently being treated.
A black Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing sixteen 9mm cartridges was seized by the police.
