Traffic changes for Kingston College centenary float parade
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Members of the public are being advised that in order to facilitate the Kingston College centenary float parade on Monday, April 14, several temporary road closures will take effect in the downtown Kingston area beginning at 9:00 am.
The parade will follow the route outlined below:
- Exit Kingston College North Street Campus, turning right onto North Street
- Turn right onto South Camp Road, then right onto East Queen Street.
- Continue to the end and turn left at East Parade onto Church Street.
- Continue to KSAMC.
- Stop at the Kingston & St. Andrew Municipal Council for the Keys to the City handover
- Continue down Church Street, and then turn right onto Harbour Street (against the one-way).
- Turn right onto King Street and proceed to St. William Grant Park.
- Turn left at Church Street and continue up to North Street.
- Brief ceremony at the KC Founders’ Plaque on the western boundary wall of The Gleaner Company.
- Conclude the parade by returning to 2A North Street.
The road closures and detours whilst the march is in progress are as follows:
- East Queen Street will be closed to vehicular traffic whilst the march is in process ( Divert traffic down lower South Camp)
- Church Street will be closed to vehicular whilst the march is in process/duration of KSAMC Key handover ceremony (Divert traffic to Barry Street onto King Street.)
- King Street will be closed to vehicular traffic whilst the march is in process (Divert Traffic Up Orange Street)
- Hold Traffic at North Parade whilst the march exits St Williams Grant Park.( Divert traffic up Orange Street)
- Church Street to North Street will be closed to vehicular traffic (divert traffic to East Queen Street)
- North Street will be closed to traffic during the march (Divert traffic down King Street onto Beeston Street)
Police personnel will be deployed at various points along the routes and motorists should obey their instructions.
