Regional Security System assisting in probe into fatal Guyana police shootings
GEORGETOWN, Guyana, (CMC) – A team from the Regional Security System (RSS) has arrived in Guyana to assist local authorities in the investigations into separate police shootings of two men last week.
On Saturday, the investigators, along with members of the Guyana Police Force Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), visited the mining town where they met with the families of Ronaldo Peters and Keon Fogenay. They also visited the scenes of the shootings.
Peters, 21, was shot and killed on April 7, when police, acting on information, went in search for him. Police claimed that Peters was wanted for a rape that occurred sometime between December 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025.
Fogenay was killed during protests in Linden on April 8.
