Trainer Peter-John Parsard celebrates dream birthday with triple win
Trainer Peter-John Parsard celebrated his 29th birthday on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with an unforgettable achievement at the races. Parsard saddled not one, not two, but three winners on the 10-race programme, marking a milestone moment in his career.
The wins came courtesy of Blu Sensation in the first race, I’m Outstanding in the sixth, and Tigray Express in the 10th and final.
For Parsard, the triple victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication of his team.
“It is a fantastic feeling winning three races on my birthday. It is the first triple of my career and it was a lot of hard work at the stables with the grooms doing a lot of work,” Parsard told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Despite some setbacks, including a scratch and a planned runner that didn’t start, Parsard’s team was still able to deliver his triple.
“This was well-prepared for a couple months; we were expecting to have more runners on the day. Unfortunately, we had a scratch and we also had a horse we had planned to run but did not start and so it feels very good to at least get three wins from four starts today and it was an amazing achievement,” Parsard said.
Parsard was quick to give credit to his entire staff and the talented jockeys who rode his winners.
“I really have to say all of the credit goes to my entire staff, they did a fantastic job, and the jockeys rode very well,” he said, offering a nod of respect. “Hats off to all of them.”
Blu Sensation’s victory came in a Restricted Allowance IV contest for native-bred four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and imported four-year-olds (non-winners of two) over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m). Ridden by Oneil Mullings, Blu Sensation won by 1 ½ lengths in a time of 1:21.0 (23.2 x 47.1 x 1:13.1).
I’m Outstanding, with Reyan Lewis in the saddle, made one move to win the maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight. I’m Outstanding won by 3 lengths in 1:02.4 (24.3 x 49.1).
With Raddesh Roman riding, Tigray Express was an easy 11-length winner in the three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($700,000-600,000) race that included native-bred six-year-old and upward (non-winners of four) and imported six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) over 7 furlongs (1,400m). Tigray Express won in a time of 1:30.0 (23.3 x 48.0 x 1:15.2).
