Roman rides to six-winner haul over the weekend, solidifies lead in Jockeys’ Championship race
Raddesh “Sneaky Fox’’ Roman, in exceptional form, showcasing his skill and expertise in the saddle, cemented his lead atop the 2025 Jockeys’ Championship with an impressive six-winner haul over the weekend two-day racing carnival at Caymanas Park.
Roman started Saturday’s (April 5) 10-race card with a one-win lead over Robert Halledeen at 20-19. He rode four winners to push his tally to 24 wins, further solidifying his position at the top of the standings. His winners included
Sensational Move and Flybluejet for trainer Gary Subratie, I Am Interested for trainer Joseph Thomas, and Tigray Express for trainer Peter-John Parsard.
Halledeen was winless on Saturday, allowing Roman to extend his lead. Roman carried his form well on Sunday (April 6), guiding home two winners on the nine-race card. He won aboard Great Wayne for trainer Marlon Pusey and The General for Subratie.
With those wins, Roman took his tally to 26 winners, seven wins ahead of Halledeen, who was again winless. Shane Ellis rode two winners on Sunday, Khaleesi for trainer Carlton Cunningham and Pretty Perfect for Subratie, to lie third in the standings with 17 wins. Tevin Foster and Dane Dawkins round out the top five riders with 15 and 13 wins, respectively.
The Jockeys’ Championship is a highly competitive event, with talented riders vying for the top spot. Roman’s success is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and skill as a jockey. As the championship continues, it will be interesting to see how Roman maintains his lead and whether other riders can challenge his position.
