US national charged with kidnapping, attempted murder of Egyptian national remanded
ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC) – A United States national, Miled Gamil Boutros, was on Tuesday remanded into custody when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Candia Carette George of Dominica after being charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.
The prosecution said that Boutros, 51, had, between March 24, and April 4, this year, kidnapped and attempted to murder the Egyptian national, Ahmed Sheref, 49, in Castle Bruce, on the east coast of the island.
The court was told that Sheref is now a patient at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH), suffering from injuries he is alleged to have sustained when he was shot by Boutros.
Boutros was not required to plead to the indictable charge when he appeared before the chief magistrate at the Castle Bruce Magistrate Court. Both charges against him will be heard at the High Court.
The lawyers for the American national did not petition the court for bail, and the matter was adjourned to August 8, this year.
