Real MoBay, Mile Gully off the mark in JWPL
Cavalier hammer Springers 7-0
Real MoBay AFC and Mile Gully FC won their first games of the season in Saturday’s sixth round of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League.
Real MoBay AFC were 3-1 winners over the Spanish Town-based Federal United, while Mile Gully FC came from a goal down to beat hosts Proven Girls 2-1.
Defending champions Frazsiers Whip raced to a sixth-straight victory, beating WiFi United 3-1 and second-placed Cavalier hammered Springers United 7-0.
Real MoBay AFC, who had drawn three of their previous five games, moved up into seventh place after their win.
Nadisha Jones gave them the lead in the 18th minute, which they held into the second half. But Yasheka Lewis equalised for Federal United in the 55th minute.
Shalonie Williams restored Real MoBay’s lead when she scored in the 77th, and Daniel Beckford added a third goal in the 88th minute.
Juilicia Pinnock gave Proven Girls an early lead when she scored in the second minute, but Mile Gully rallied with Samera Findley, pulling them level in the 30th minute. Janeel Williams scored the winning goal for Mile Gully in the 58th minute.
Frazsiers Whip trailed for the first time this season when Evernique McCleary gave WiFi United the lead in the eighth minute.
Nevillegail Able levelled the scores in the 14th minute and scored again in the 29th minute to give Frazsiers Whip the lead. Davia Richards added their third in the 45th minute, her league-leading 14th goal of the season.
At Granville Community Centre Shanel Spence scored a double and missed a first-half penalty as Cavalier spanked last-placed Springers United 7-0. It was Springers fourth loss in five games.
Tamara O’Sullivan fired Cavalier into the lead in the 10th minute. It could have been 2-0 in the 15th minute, but Spence placed her penalty kick wide, but she made up for the miss by scoring in the 24th.
Shadie Shirley converted a penalty in the 32nd minute after she was fouled in the penalty box, and Tatyana Polack added a fourth just before the half-time break.
Spence completed her brace when she scored in the 51st minute, while Stephanie Morgan scored the sixth goal in the 82nd and Deshanna Cole added another in the 88th.
At Brooks Park, Tuanashae Hamilton scored a brace for Arnett Gardens in their come-from-behind 2-1 win over Los Perfectos FC.
