Man charged with 2024 murder of bar owner
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 23-year-old construction worker has been charged with murder and several other offences in connection with the 2024 shooting death of a bar operator.
Anthony Bailey of Barrettpiece district, Kendal in the parish was held on April 2nd this year for the May 1, 2024 murder of a bartender in the New Green district, also in the parish.
The victim, 46-year-old Kerrean Nicole Airy of Cumberland, Gregory Park in St Catherine was reportedly at her bar when armed men entered, demanded money and opened gunfire, injuring her and another woman.
Both women were rushed to the hospital where Airy succumbed to her injuries and the bystander was treated and released.
Bailey is now facing the charges of murder, conspiracy to murder, shooting with intent, conspiracy to shoot with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Bailey was officially charged on April 4, 2025, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. A court date for him is being finalised
