Taxi operator facing gun-related charges
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A taxi operator of Mountain View Avenue, Kingston 2, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following an incident in his community on Sunday, April 6.
He has been identified as a 34-year-old Rory McFarlane.
Reports from the Elletson Road Police are that at about 1:00 am, a police team was on mobile patrol duties in the area when they saw a party in session.
The team went to check the venue regarding the party’s permit and saw McFarlane, whose actions aroused their suspicion.
He was accosted and searched, during which the firearm was reportedly found in a bag that he had in his possession.
He was subsequently taken into custody and, following an interview session, was charged with the aforementioned offences.
His court date is being finalised.
