Chocomo favoured to win Linval McFarlane Trophy Feature
The stage is set for an exciting clash at Caymanas Park today as the $1.25-million Linval McFarlane Trophy feature takes centre stage. Among the 12-horse field, one standout contender has emerged as the prime candidate to take top honours,
Chocomo
.
Trained by Jason DaCosta, Chocomo has been in impressive form of late. His second-place finish behind the talented Legacy Isle on March 22 was a testament to his ability, as he chased the winner from start to finish, ultimately finishing 4 lengths adrift over the five-furlong (1,000m) distance on the round course.
However, Chocomo’s past performances suggest that he has what it takes to go one better today. The four-year-old American-bred bay colt has already notched two wins at today’s five-furlong straight distance, clocking impressive times of 1:01.3 on June 1, 2024, and 1:00.2 on July 27, 2024.
Furthermore, Chocomo’s recent gallop has only added to his credentials. On March 31, he impressed with a smooth 49.0-second clocking over four furlongs (800m) out of the starting gates. This strong piece of work suggests that Chocomo is ready to run a big race today.
With his proven track record, recent strong performance, and favourable conditions,
Chocomo is undoubtedly the one to beat in today’s feature event. Robert Halledeen will ride.
The Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward is positioned as the ninth and final race on the day with a post time of 5:35 pm. First race is at 12:15 pm.
While Chocomo is the clear favourite to win the Linval McFarlane Trophy feature, several other runners could pose a challenge for top honours such as Banadura, Bulletproofcoffee, She’s That Girl’s, and Money Market.
