Bleachers free before 5:30 pm at Grand Slam Track Meet
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The organisers of Grand Slam Track have announced that patrons will be able to access bleachers section on Saturday at the National Stadium for free before 5:30 pm.
The track meet is expected to showcase some of Jamaica’s fastest high school athletes across the Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Boys & Girls 100m, 200m, and 400m.
Gates are set to open at 3:00pm with ISSA races beginning at 4:00pm. Tickets will be required for the Grand Slam Track races, which begin at 5:30 pm.
Competition start times:
4:10 p.m. – boy’s 400 metres
4:20 p.m. – girl’s 400 metres
4:30 p.m. – boy’s 200 metres
4:40 p.m. – girl’s 200 metres
4:50 p.m. – boy’s 100 metres
5:00 p.m. – girl’s 100 metres
Friday night’s competition saw Gabby Thomas, Chris Bailey, Ejgayehu Taye, Alison Dos Santos, Nikki Hiltz, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Grant Fisher, & Kenny Bednarek all victorious and taking 12 points into their respective second races.
Saturday’s slate is headlined by the start of the men’s short distance group, featuring Olympic 1500m gold medalist Cole Hocker, Olympic 1500m silver medalist Josh Kerr, Olympic bronze medalist Yared Nuguse, and Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
The women’s long sprints 400m will close out the night, with Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino taking on Olympic silver medalist Salwa Eid Naser and Olympic 200m Champion Gabby Thomas.
