Leaders in the making Sandals South Coast strengthens staff with supervisory training programme
ACCEPTING that strong leadership is the backbone of exceptional guest experiences and a thriving workplace culture, Sandals South Coast recently concluded another of its Supervisory Skills Training Programme.
This initiative, launched in 2021, is aimed at equipping future supervisors and managers — across varying departments — with the necessary tools, strategies, and mind set to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
The structured programme, which lasted up to 16 weeks, provided an in-depth focus on leadership development, effective communication, team motivation, conflict resolution, performance management, and service excellence. Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, role-playing exercises, case studies, coaching sessions and mentorship.
As recent graduates expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to develop their skills and prepare for leadership roles within the organisation, Khalia Johnson, a front office supervisor in training, said she has been motivated to take on new challenges.
“This training has been truly transformative. It has not only enhanced my leadership skills, but as also equipped me with the confidence to inspire and manage my team effectively. I now feel more prepared to contribute to the resort’s continued success and deliver an elevated guest experience,” declared Johnson.
Emphasising the resort’s dedication to encouraging leadership growth, Learning and Development Manager Tevin Simpson added that this is just one of the many avenues the company has implemented to push team members towards a habit of continuous learning and professional advancement.
“By investing in leadership development, Sandals South Coast will continue to uphold its commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, ensuring that our leaders are prepared to guide their teams toward even greater success,” said Simpson.
