Caymanas Park’s recycling initiative sees record numbers
More than 1,800 pounds of plastic collected
SUPREME Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), operators of Caymanas Park, continued to display its commitment to environmental sustainability with another successful staging of Caymanas Community Recycling Day.
This year’s initiative, staged on Sunday, saw a large increase in plastic collected, with 1,817 pounds of garbage removed from the environment — more than doubling last year’s total of 674 pounds.
The recycling exercise, held in recognition of Global Recycling Day, was organised in collaboration with the Supreme Ventures Foundation and Recycling Partners of Jamaica. The event brought together community members, representatives of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and the Grooms’ Association in a shared mission to keep Portmore and its surroundings clean and green.
Chloleen Daley-Muschett, corporate communication and public relations manager at Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL), expressed pride in the success of this year’s initiative.
“Carrying out this recycling initiative, isn’t just about corporate responsibility — it’s about engaging and encouraging the community to develop sustainable practices today to secure a healthier, greener Jamaica for generations to come.
“Seeing the Caymanas community rally together to more than double last year’s collection efforts demonstrates the powerful impact of collective action,” said Daley-Muschett.
The event featured designated collection points for recyclable materials, with participants actively contributing by taking in plastic bottles for proper disposal.
Recycling Partners of Jamaica played a key role in educating attendees on best recycling practices.
Brand optimisation manager at Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) Arielle Beckles also highlighted the significance of the initiative.
“This year’s turnout and the increased waste collection numbers are a testament to the impact we can have when we work together. Through collaborations like this with Recycling Partners of Jamaica, we are steadily positioning the city as a model for recycling and environmental consciousness,” said Beckles.
