Frazsiers Whip, Arnett Gardens hit the high notes in JWPL
Defending champions Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens FC scored big wins in the fifth round of matches in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League, beating Federal United and Proven Girls, respectively, on Saturday.
Frazsiers Whip raced to a fifth-straight win, blanking Federal United 6-0 at Alpha Boys’ Home, while Arnett Gardens moved into the top four after a 7-0 thumping of Proven Girls at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Frazsiers Whip are on 15 points, two more than Cavalier, followed by Los Perfectos SC on nine points. Arnett Gardens are in fourth place on seven points to lead WiFi FC and UWI Women on goal-difference.
Latoya Duhaney and Danisha Rattray both scored doubles for Frazsiers Whip who extended their high-scoring run with three goals coming in a nine-minute span in the second half.
Davia Richard opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Duhaney got the first of her brace in the 45th. Rattray added a third two minutes into first-half stoppage time.
Duhaney completed her brace in the 52nd minute, Rattray got her second four minutes later before Nevillegail Able scoring the sixth goal in the 61st.
At Anthony Spaulding Complex, Shikira Douglas scored four goals and Briana Crosby scored a double for Arnett Gardens in their win over Proven Girls.
Six of the goals came in the first half with Douglas giving Arnett Gardens a quick 2-0 lead with strikes in the seventh and 16th minutes. Crosby scored the first of her double in the 31st minute and Tuanashae Hamilton scored in the 41st minute to make the scores 4-0.
Crosby scored her second in the 42nd minute, while Douglas completed her first hat-trick of the season in the 45th minute. She added a fourth in the 58th minute.
Cavalier, meanwhile, remain in second place after edging Los Perfectos FC 1-0 thanks to a 26th-minute goal from Tatyana Polack. Cavalier improved to 13 points, four more than the Los Perfectos.
Real MoBay AFC and Springers United played out a 1-1 result in their St James derby. Fredricka Finnikin gave Springers the lead in the 31st minute with her second goal of the season, but Santina Cunningham earned a point for Real MoBay when she scored in the 51st.
In the other game, Mile Gully and UWI Women ended 0-0.
