Beach at Harmony Beach Park temporarily closed to the public
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The beach at Harmony Beach Park in St James has been temporarily closed to residents and visitors.
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC), which announced the closure on Wednesday, said the beach is closed as a precautionary measure due to an external issue affecting the water quality.
“During a recent safety assessment, we identified an external issue affecting water quality in the beach area. In the interest of public health and safety, we have made the decision to restrict access to the beach while our teams work to resolve the matter as quickly as possible,” the UDC said.
“We know how much the community values this space, and we assure them that every effort is being made to restore safe access. The rest of the park remains open to the public, and we invite the continued enjoyment of the green spaces and amenities available,” it added.
The corporation said it remains committed to creating and maintaining safe, clean and welcoming public spaces for all Jamaicans.
