My Heart Belongs To You
To jubilant cheers, Denise and Barry celebrate their nuptials.
Lifestyle, Vows

My Heart Belongs To You

I will move heaven and earth, give you my heart,

For all that it’s worth.

You are mine til the end of time.

I don’t care what we’re going through.

Till the end, my heart belongs to you.

…….
My Heart Belongs To You by Peabo Bryson

The road to happiness for entrepreneur Denise Sanchez and electrician Barry Ashmeade was built on patience, a road that saw them finally tie the knot on December 7, 2024, at the Caymanas Golf Club. In front of an intimate gathering, the pair pledged their lives to each other in a ceremony that reflected the couple’s personality.

Their story began in May 2015 when Denise crossed paths with Barry along Lyndhurst Road in Kingston. While Barry’s energetic persona initially caught Denise off guard, she slowly warmed up.

“He was a bit loud but full of vibes and very jovial,” Denise told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). As she got to know Barry, she found him to be exactly the kind of man she was looking for.

“We went out for a drink at Uncorked, and we clicked. As the conversation flowed, he made me feel seen, safe and comfortable,” Denise recalled. “He is very kind, family-oriented and such a hard worker with ambition and vision. “It was these qualities that kept their relationship intact for the last 10 years. All that was missing was the proposal, and Barry ensured that it would be a memorable occasion for Denise. On his birthday, March 15, 2024, Barry would give Denise an unforgettable gift at his birthday party.

“He was supposed to be giving the vote of thanks, then he called me up saying he had a question to ask me. He popped the question, and I ran away from him. They brought me back up to the microphone and presented the ring box, but when I opened it, it was empty. I tossed it away, thinking he was pranking me. That’s when he got down on one knee …. and the rest is history.”

The occasion was as grand as the wedding that followed months later at the Caymanas Golf Club. For her special day, Denise wore a lace appliqué ball gown. The décor was expertly handled by Chic Tableware Studio. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd as Denise made her way up the aisle, escorted by friend Collin Scarlett, to KC and Jojo’s

All My Life.

“It was the happiest day of my life. I was a bit anxious as things were running behind schedule. But as I started up the aisle, I was filled with pride and joy and so much love for the man waiting at the other end for me,” Denise said.

The festivities continued at the reception, where Caymanas Golf Club treated guests to a grand banquet. The couple cut their two-tier fruitcake provided by Suckrajh Wedding Cake and More. The fun overflowed with toasts and tributes to the bride and groom. However, it was Barry who stirred up the emotions when he serenaded his bride in a loving tribute.

“He got so emotional, and then the master of ceremonies was calling him out about his happy tears,” Denise said. The couple shared their first dance to Peabo Bryson’s My Heart Belongs To You, bringing their love story full circle and writing a new chapter in their lives.

“The ambience was exceptional, the colours came together very well; the love, the fun, the laughter, it was really special. There was a special aura of love in the air, and even the weather seemed to cooperate with the event,” Denise recalled.

The newly-weds honeymooned at the RIU Hotel Ocho Rios, St Ann.
