MBU look to return to second in JPL
Former two-time champions Montego Bay United (MBU) can return to second place in the Jamaica Premier League when they take on Portmore United at the Montego Bay Sports Complex today at 6:00 pm.
Both teams, who are third and fourth in the tables, have played out 0-0 scorelines in both games played this season, and MBU, who also drew 0-0 with a seemingly resurgent Humble Lion last weekend, could move past Arnett Gardens with a win today.
MBU are on 64 points from 32 games, a point behind Arnett Gardens who will play Cavalier on Monday and has a game in hand.
Portmore United will be seeking to rebound from a loss to relegation-threatened Chapelton Maroons last weekend, and a win would see them cut into their 11 points deficit with MBU.
Tivoli Gardens will be seeking to extend their winning run to five straight but will have a tough assignment away at Drax Hall to leaders Mount Pleasant, who have won both games 1-0 this season and will be hoping to sweep their season series against Tivoli.
Mount Pleasant have not played in almost two weeks since their loss to Portmore and will be eager to get back on track and maintain their healthy lead in the table.
Racing will hope to rekindle their quest for a place in the play-offs after they were beaten by Tivoli and fell two spots to eighth place.
A win today against last-placed Vere Phoenix would see Racing move to joint seventh with Waterhouse with a game in hand.
Humble Lion have clawed their way out of the relegation spots, and while they are not yet safe, they have managed two wins and a draw in their last four outings and will be confident going up against a Molynes United team that has fallen into the relegation spots.
Humble Lion are coming off a morale-boosting 3-1 win over defending champions Cavalier and will also be seeking back-to-back wins over Molynes, who have allowed 13 goals in their last four games.
Dunbeholden, who have slipped to ninth place on the table, and Harbour View, two places below them, will be desperate for wins.
