#Champs2025: Edwin Allen’s Ishna James hospitalised after collapse
Edwin Allen High’s heptathlete Ishna James was being held overnight at a medical facility in Kingston after she collapsed while competing in an 800m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships on Saturday.
James was leading in the Heptathlon and was well on her way to winning the gold medal when she collapsed on the track during the 800m and was later taken to the medical area at the stadium.
Michael Dyke, the head coach of the Edwin Allen team, told Observer Online that James was “unresponsive” for a short time after falling on the track and then taken to the medical facility as a precaution.
Despite not scoring in the 800m, James finished fourth in the Heptathlon and was also fifth in the Girls Class 1 long jump that was also contested on Saturday.
