#Champs2025: JC’s Chavez Penn wins back-to-back high jump gold
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica College’s Chavez Penn won back-to-back boys’ Class One high jump titles after holding off a strong challenge on Saturday’s final day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium, clearing 2.08m.
Herbert Morrison’s Santino Distin was second with a personal best of 2.05m, the same height as Kingston College’s Tejahni Haynes who took the bronze.
Penn, who started jumping with the bar at 1.95m, had a slight hiccup at 2.00m where he needed a second attempt, allowing Herbert Morrison’s Santino Distin to take the lead.
Both jumpers cleared 2.05m on their first attempt while it took Kingston College’s Tejahni Haynes three attempts, however, only Penn got over 2.08m.
