#Champs2025: St George’s College Foreman seeks 200m gold
KINGSTON, Jamaica—St George’s College’s boys’ Class 1 100m silver medallist Tyreece Foreman will hope to upgrade to gold in the 200m final on Saturday’s final day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Champions at the National Stadium.
Foreman, who ran 20.85 seconds (0.7m/s), was one of four athletes to dip under 21.00 seconds in Friday’s semi-finals, with Calabar High’s Junior Gallimore leading the way with 20.72 seconds (1.5m/s), followed by Sanjay Seymore of William Knibb, who ran 20.75 seconds (0.7m/s).
Ian Barker of St Catherine High also ran 20.98 seconds (1.5m/s) and was followed by Omar James of Vere Technical (21.04 seconds( (0.7m/s) and Zachary Cox of Cornwall College 21.06 seconds (1.5m/s).
Antonio Powell of Edwin Allen, 21.11 seconds (0.2m/s) and Markel Smith of Kingston College, 21.16 seconds (0.2m/s), are also through to the finals.
Johan Ramaldo Smythe, the Class 2 champion from last year and Romario Hines of Munro College, who was fifth in Class 1 last year, failed to advance.
Jamaica College’s Malique Dennis was fastest in Class 2 with 21.45 seconds (0.3m/s), followed by Holmwood’s Jaydon Collins (21.58 seconds) (-0.4m/s) and Jason Pitter of Kingston College 21.74 seconds (0.4m/s).
Usain Bernard of Petersfield High, who ran 21.49 seconds (0.3m/s) and Nasir McMorris of Campion College, 21.63 seconds (-0.4m/s), are also in the final.
The St Jago High pair of Jevaney Findlay- 21.82 seconds (0.8m/s) and Rajaun Romelly ( 22.27 seconds) (1.8ms) leads the Class 3 qualifiers with Kingston College’s Emmile Higgins (22.35 seconds) (0.6m/s), Tiene Barrett of Rusea’s High (22.13 seconds) (0.8m/s) and Andre Genus of Kingston College 22.63 seconds (1.8m/s), also made progress.
