#Champs2025: Dockery, Shim DQs overturned
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Lacovia High’s Sabrina Dockery and Immaculate Conception’s Shevi-Anne Shim have had their disqualification from the Girls’ Class 1 200m semi-finals on Friday’s fourth day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships overturned, and will now be allowed to try for a place in the final set for Saturday.
Both athletes were adjudged to have false-started in the same semi-final heat and were disqualified, but had their protests upheld by the Jury of Appeals and will compete in a special race later on Friday.
They will have to run faster than the 24.30 seconds that was recorded by STETHS’ Rihana Allen and the 24.39 seconds that was run by Tianna Rhoomes of Vere Technical, if they are to make it to the top eight.
Dockery had led the qualifying from Thursday morning with a time of 23.22 seconds while Shim had clocked 24.66 seconds.
The Lacovia High athlete is seeking the double after winning the 100m in a personal best 11.08 seconds on Wednesday, the second fastest ever at Champs and fifth best all time by a Jamaican Under -20 female.
