Falmouth United rebound against Petersfield
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Falmouth United rebounded from their first loss of the season to a come-from – behind 2-1 win over Petersfield in their Jamaica Football Federation Championships return round Zone B game played at Llandilo Sports Complex on Sunday.
The win means Falmouth United remains atop the points standing.
They were beaten at home by Treasure Beach last week Tuesday but rallied to get three points on Sunday where both Reno FC and Treasure Beach were also winners.
The top of the tables Zone A clash on Saturday between Meadforest FC and Baptist Alliance ended in a 1-1 draw, while Lime Hall and Tru-Juice both scored 1-0 wins to close the gap.
At Llandilo on Sunday, O’Shawn Neil gave Petersfield FC the lead in the fourth minute, Mark Lewis equalised in the ninth minute, but they had to wait until the 88th minute before Tajay Cooper scored the winner.
The win saw Falmouth United move to 22 points, three more than Reno FC (19 points) and Treasure Beach on 17 points.
Reno FC bagged their third straight win, blanking Duncans United 2-0 with goals from Raheem Kerr in the eighth minute and Jashane Foster opening his account when he scored in the 38th minute.
Leo Campbell, who started the season playing in the Jamaica Premier League, opened his scoring account in the second minute on Saturday before Romario Smith scored in the ninth minute and Antwone Smith in the 36th minute as Treasure Beach beat Holland PYC 3-0 at the Lacovia Sports Complex.
Meadforest FC remained at the top of Zone A after coming from behind in time added in the second half of their draw against Baptist Alliance.
Baptist Alliance, who are on 17 points, one point behind Meadforest FC, took the lead in time added on in the first round, thanks to a goal from Orlando Ricketts.
Raheem Porter, however scored six minutes into time added for Meadforest.
Lime Hall edged Progressive FC 1-0 with Carlos Campbell scoring in the 60th minute, while Tru-Juice also got a slim win against Grays Inn with Curtel Lawes scoring in time added at the end of the second half.
Also on Saturday, Spanish Town Police were 4-0 winners over Portlanders FC with goals from Robert Allen in the 35th minute, Jahmari Ranger in the 44th minute, Oshane Senior in the 73rd minute and Jordan Elliston in the 87th minute.
