#Champs2025: Tight competition anticipated in girls’ Class 4 high jump final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Immaculate Conception’s Sanique Watt and Edwin Allen High’s Kemoya Campbell, silver and bronze medallists respectively in last year’s girls’ Class Four high jump, are expected to battle for the gold in Friday’s final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Both jumpers, who came into the championships with sparkling credentials, were part of Thursday’s qualifying round which was led by the trio of Desta Robinson of Hydel High, Afharia Anderson of Holmwood Technical and Shaniel Whyte of Wolmer’s Girls, all of who had perfect score cards through to the automatic qualifying height of 1.55m.
Watt needed a second attempt to clear 1.55m while Campbell failed once at 1.45m and 1.50m and needed three jumps to clear 1.55m.
Ashley Dyke of Holmwood Technical also got over 1.55m.
