#Champs2025: Edwards seeks repeat double in triple jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica College’s Michael Andre Edwards is on course for a second straight double as he will seek to add the boys’ Class One triple jump to the long jump title he won on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships at the National Stadium.
Edwards, who won the double in Class Two last year, qualified for Friday’s triple jump final after his 14.76m (0.6m/s) effort in Thursday morning’s qualifying rounds.
Titchfield High’s Ajarie Bloomfield, who was sixth in Class Two last year, led the qualifying with 15.18m (1.7m/s) followed by Jamaica College’s Jaivar Cato, second placed last year, and who jumped a wind aided 14.98m (2.2m/s) are also through to the final.
St Elizabeth Technical’s Ricoy Hunter ,who failed to get past the first round of the long jump, will hope for redemption after he advanced with a 14.90m (1.2m/s) and will be accompanied by Kingston College’s Rekelme Hunter, STETHS’ Jowayne Johnson and the Calabar pair of Romaine Lewis and Kaleel Samuels.
