Man fatally shot by police in Kingsland, Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica—A man was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police in Kingsland, Manchester, on Tuesday morning.

Police named the man as Orlando Clive Waite, otherwise called ‘Garth’, a resident of Kingsland.

Police said that sometime between 2:00 am and 3:00 am, a team went on an operation at a premises in Kingsland when Waite, who was reportedly armed, confronted them.

The police opened fire, and Wait was hit. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Police said a firearm was seized. The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
