Heiroffire extends winning streak with convincing victory
HEIROFFIRE, a nine-year-old bay mare trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Phillip Parchment, extended her winning streak to two in a row with a convincing victory in the sixth race on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Interestingly, prior to Heiroffire’s two wins, she was listed to be culled from racing.
Competing in a four-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($350,000-$250,000) event over 5 furlongs (1,000m) round,
Heiroffire broke sharply and engaged Cappuccino (Dane Dawkins) in a brief duel for the lead entering the half-mile (800m) turn.
Shaking off Cappuccino approaching the distance, Heiroffire entered the lane with a comfortable advantage. Maintaining her stride in deep stretch, Heiroffire secured a 2¼-length victory in 1:04.1 (25.0 x 50.1). Buzz Assault (Tyrese Anderson) took second, with JJTheStriker (Richard Henry) finishing third.
This race ended with a two-horse spill as Cappuccino, ridden by Dane Dawkins, broke down, flooring Dawkins close to the finishing line, while fourth by the winning post Nuttin But Trouble, with Oshane Nugent in the saddle, also broke down.
