#Champs2025: STETHS’ Rodeeki Walters leads Class 2 long jump qualifiers
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The main contenders in the boys’ Class Two long jump wasted very little time in qualifying for Wednesday’s final as five of the top six qualifiers needed just one attempt to book their spots while another two needed a second jump.
St Elizabeth Technical’s Rodeeki Walters, who won the silver medal last year, jumped 7.14m (0.1m/s) on his first attempt to lead the qualifying, well over the 6.50m automatic qualifying distance.
Kingston College’s Amani Phillips also needed only one attempt to get to 6.84m (1.2m/s) while his teammate Omarian Miller was third best with 6.79m (-0.1m/s) but needed three jumps.
Roshane Francis of Wolmer’s Boys jumped 6.76m (0,2m/s), Michael Graham of Excelsior had 6.66m (0.3m/s) and Shadane Lewis of Petersfield had 6.62m (0.1m/s), all on their first attempts.
