KINGSTON, Jamaica — Excelsior High’s Alyssa Forrester led the first round of the girls’ Class Two shot put event with a throw of 12.72m on Tuesday’s opening day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Clarendon College’s Jamelia Young, the leading girls’ Class Two shot putter this year, managed only the fifth-best throw of 12.27m.
Young, the only thrower so far to throw over 14.00m with a best of 14.20m, was one of two Clarendon College athletes into Wednesday’s final as Natalia Pitterson was the second best with 12.41 seconds.
Immaculate Conception’s Jada Francis threw 12.30m.
