JAS to host inaugural Manchester Food Festival
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) has announced it will host its inaugural Manchester Food Festival set for Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Describing it as a landmark event the JAS said, “This will highlight Jamaica’s rich agricultural and culinary heritage, showcasing local farmers, food producers and culinary talents while supporting small and medium-sized businesses in the parish.”
To be held at the Mandeville Primary and Junior High School, the event will focus on “Farm to Table Excellence,” with an award ceremony, farmers’ market, exhibits and cooking competitions and tastings.
Minister of Agriculture Floyd Green will be the guest speaker at the event.
Live entertainment and cultural performances as well as a “Kiddlies and Bickle Village” are all slated to be included in the event.
The JAS says the festival aims to strengthen Jamaica’s agricultural sector by connecting farmers, food enthusiasts, policymakers, and businesses while creating a platform to celebrate local cuisine and agribusinesses.
“We are excited to launch this event, which will not only highlight the importance of agriculture to Jamaica’s economy but also give our farmers and agribusinesses a well-deserved spotlight,” said Norman Murray, President at JAS Manchester.
The event will cost $500 for entry.
