World Indoors: Nugent and Brown advance to 60m hurdles semis
Ackera Nugent and Amoi Briown qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 60m hurdles at the World Athletics Indoor Championships after the first round at the Nanjing Cube in Nanjing, China, Saturday, Jamaica time.
Nugent, the Jamaican record holder in both the 60m and 100m hurdles, looked easy as she ran 7.90 seconds to win her heat, beating American Christina Clemons- 7.95 seconds and Denmark’s Ida Beiter Bomme- 8.05 seconds.
Brown was third in her heat, running 7.98 seconds to finish behind American Grace Stark, who ran a personal best 7.73 seconds, fastest in the qualifying, and Denisha Cartwright of the Bahamas who equaled her lifetime best of 7.78 seconds.
The semi-finals are set for 6:35am on Sunday Jamaica time with the final set for 8:00am.
