Meadforest, Baptist face-off in top-of-the-table clash
YORK, St Thomas – Meadforest FC and Baptist Alliance will meet at York Oval on Saturday in a top-of-the-table return game clash in the Jamaica Football Federation Championships set to start at 3:30 pm.
One point separates the two Zone A teams that had drawn 1-1 in the first round and the result of Saturday’s match could go a far way in deciding who will win the group.
Meadforest FC are on 18 points, followed by Baptist Alliance on 17 with Lime Hall and Tru Juice both on 14 points.
Six games are scheduled to be played Saturday with red hot Treasure Beach set to host Holland PYC with a chance to move into second place in Zone B.
The teams that will meet at York Oval will go into the game with a lot of momentum behind them. Unbeaten Meadforest FC have won their last three games by an 8-0 aggregate while Baptist Alliance are unbeaten in their last five games.
Lime Hall will start favourites to beat Progressive FC who have failed to score in their last three games and have fallen down the points tables. Tru-Juice FC should also get full points from Grays Inn when they meet at Dinthill Technical.
With leaders Falmouth United and second-placed Reno not playing until Sunday, Treasure Beach could move into second place with a win over Holland PYC in a St Elizabeth derby that had ended 1-1 in the first round.
Treasure Beach, who participated in the Jamaica Premier League last season, handed Falmouth United their first loss of the season on Tuesday and will be high on confidence against fifth-placed Holland PYC who are only three points behind and are unbeaten in their last four games.
