JCA Michael Holding Senior Cup heats up this weekend
THE clash between Melbourne Cricket Club (CC) and University of the West Indies at Melbourne Oval will be the feature match of the round as the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Michael Holding Senior Cup, sponsored by Stewart’s Automotive, continues this Saturday and Sunday.
The match of the round is one of the raft of new features instituted by JCA and Stewart’s Automotive to ignite spectator support and pump interest in local cricket.
In other matches scheduled in Zone F, St Catherine CC battles Kingston & St Andrew Cricket Association (CA) at Chedwin Park.
As the competition intensifies in Zone A, St Elizabeth CA and Clarendon CA, both coming off exciting first-round victories, square off at Manley Horne cricket ground while St Catherine CA and Manchester CA, who both lost their opening matches, clash at Port Esquivel.
In Zone B, Hanover CA are at home to Westmoreland CA at Rusea’s High, while St James CA and Trelawny CA are to meet at Dumfries.
In Zone C, St Mary CA, led by last week’s double centurion Alwyn Williams, journey to Lynch Park to face Portland, while G C Foster College are at home to visiting St Ann CA.
Defending champions Kingston and last year’s finalists Jamaica Defence Force are both on a high and come face to face at Up Park Camp in Zone D, while St Thomas CA pit their skills against Boy’s Town at Springfield.
Zone E serves up a mouth-watering clash between Police and Lucas CC at Elletson Road while Mico face off with Kensington CC at Kensington Park.
The six group winners along with the two best second-place finishers will advance to the quarter-finals slated to begin on May 10.
