World Indoors: Rohan Watson places fifth in 60m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Rohan Watson finished fifth in the men’s 60m final on Friday’s opening day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships at the Nanjing Cube in Nanjing, China, running 6.59 seconds.
Watson was hoping to match Ackeem Blake’s bronze medal last year in Glasgow, Scotland but after two outstanding runs in the earlier rounds, had to be content with his placing.
Great Britain’s European Indoor Championships gold medal winner Jeremiah Azu took the gold medal in a personal best equalling 6.49 seconds, ahead of Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy — 6.50 seconds. South Africa’s Akani Simbine, who was running indoors for the first time, was third in 6.54 seconds.
