World Indoors: Anderson, McDonald fail to advance in 400m events
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican quarter-milers Leah Anderson in the women’s 400m and Rusheen McDonald in the men’s 400m failed to advance past the semi-finals in their events on Friday’s opening day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in China.
The first round of the women’s event was scrapped due to insufficient entries. However, in the semi-finals Anderson faded to fourth place in her race, running 52.86 seconds and was eliminated while the other Jamaican Joanne Reid did not face the starter.
Also, Lloydricia Cameron failed to get past the first round of the women’s shot put after she finished 13th with a best of 17.43m.
